Post subject: [no] payment with subscriptions

Hello. After some searching of this board, I did see where you have added "subscription payments" to the latest release, but I am setting up my store now and I can't seem to verify that the subscriptions are working.

I am trying to setup a product such as "basic hosting" where the customer will purchase it with a monthly paypal subscription of $5.99 and a one-time 9.95 setup fee. I think i figured out the setup fee by making that a "shipping and handling charge", but I just can't confirm or figure out if the $5.99 payment is one-time or a reoccuring subscription.

Is there some specific instructions posted anywhere that will help me make sure I have monthly subscriptions configured correctly and that they will work? I am obviously not able to send a paypal payment to myself to know for sure and the sandbox link in the storez mod doesn't work.

any input would be great - thanks

I haven't added subscription payments - what it does provide is "time limited Group allocation optional for each product".

You may need to consider the Subscriptions module for your application.

The sandbox link activates correctly and the sandbox works as it should (just tested here)?

i must have misunderstood this post then:

...e.g. provide a 1 year subscription to product support and updates...

Oh well. my loss I guess Sad ...The sandbox comment was because when I enable that in the paypal setting and then try to run a transaction, I get this error when I click the paypal button:

Sorry if that was misleading but in full context it was
Code::
v9.2.0 will also include the ability to assign a group and duration to each product e.g. provide a 1 year subscription to product support and updates.
Perhaps genuine paypal style subscriptions further down the track - for now, I set it up simply to provide for product support/download/forum access for pre-defined periods like month, quarter, half and year.

The message you get from PayPal is correct - the sandbox will not work unless you have setup, and are also logged into, your Dev Central account at the same time as you are using the sandbox option. It has to work that way or you run into conflicts with PayPal's normal system. I won't go further into setting up sandboxes (that info is available through PayPal) - in your sandbox setup you will need to setup 2 accounts, seller and buyer.
